UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves has confirmed a 5.5 percent pay rise for NHS Staff. Nurses and other NHS staff working on Agenda for Change contracts in England would receive a 5.5% pay rise for 2024-25.

Health unions and devolved governments are now looking for a Westminster funding commitment that can be at least matched in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. On 29th July 2024, the UK Government announced the pay rise updation.
It is declared by the government that, NHS staff shall receive their updated pay with effect from 1st April 2024, in either their August or September paycheck.
Max Warner, an IFS economist who specializes in NHS, has mentioned that the NHS was expecting 2 percent pay rise and based on that a 5.5 percent pay was awarded for NHS Agenda for Change staff would cost hospitals/DHSC around £2.3bn extra.
